To those not familiar with mounting configurations, the terminology can be very confusing. The following photos will help you not only to understand what each term means, but will clarify which mounting configuration is best for your installation.<\/p>\n<h3>Flush Mount \/ Wall Mount:<\/h3>\n<p>Does not involve the use of mounting canopy.\u00a0 Units typically have knock-out pattern on back plate to mount directly to junction box. (May also allow for &#8220;Ceiling Mount&#8221; in emergency light fixtures only.)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\"Wall-Mount\" src=\"https:\/\/www.exitlightco.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Wall-Mount1.gif\" alt=\"Wall Mount Exit Sign\" width=\"200\" height=\"133\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Ceiling Mount:<\/h3>\n<p>Typically requires use of mounting canopy from top of fixture. Some units may further specify <em>Drop Ceiling\/New Construction<\/em> or <em>Sheet Rock\/Remodel<\/em> applications.\u00a0Use of ceiling mount for exit signage may require double face. (May also allow for &#8220;Wall Mount&#8221; in emergency light fixtures only.)<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\"Ceiling-Mount\" src=\"https:\/\/www.exitlightco.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Ceiling-Mount2.gif\" alt=\"Ceiling Mount Exit Sign\" width=\"200\" height=\"133\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Side Mount:<\/h3>\n<p>Sometimes confused with &#8220;Wall Mount&#8221;, side mounting typically requires use of a mounting canopy.\u00a0Canopy is affixed to the side of the unit and then attached to wall.\u00a0Use of side mount for exit signage may require double face.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\"Side-Mount\" src=\"https:\/\/www.exitlightco.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Side-Mount1.gif\" alt=\"Side Mount Exit Sign\" width=\"199\" height=\"160\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Wall Mount Angle Down:<\/h3>\n<p>Special mounting configuration mostly limited to edge lit exit signage.\u00a0May require mounting canopy affixed to the top of the unit and then attached to wall.\u00a0Edge lit face then rotates down.\u00a0In recessed applications, the face itself may be curved down.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\"Wall-Mount-Angle-Down\" src=\"https:\/\/www.exitlightco.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Wall-Mount-Angle-Down1.gif\" alt=\"Edge Lit Exit Sign Mount\" width=\"200\" height=\"176\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Recessed Mount:<\/h3>\n<p>Commonly used for ceiling mount units in which housing is actually located above the ceiling.\u00a0Some units may further specify <em>Drop Ceiling\/New Construction<\/em> or <em>Sheet Rock\/Remodel<\/em> applications.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\"Recessed-Mount\" src=\"https:\/\/www.exitlightco.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Recessed-Mount1.gif\" alt=\"Recessed Mount Exit Sign\" width=\"199\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Pendant Mount:<\/h3>\n<p>This configuration requires the use of a pendant kit (which may be an optional add-on).\u00a0Allows ceiling mountable units to be suspended from a high or sloped ceiling to be more visible.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\"Pendant-Mount\" src=\"https:\/\/www.exitlightco.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Pendant-Mount1.gif\" alt=\"Pendant Mount Exit Sign\" width=\"199\" height=\"156\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Note that not all installation configurations may be available for every sign, help is available via on-line chat, phone (<b>877-352-3948<\/b>) or email (<b>orders@exitlightco.com<\/b>) from 5am-4pm PST if you have additional questions or require assistance.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When deciding what type of exit signs or emergency lights to purchase, mounting configuration can play a very important role.
