The CALUM-U Cast Aluminum LED Exit Sign is an architecturally pleasing solution designed for demanding commercial and institutional environments. Constructed from cast aluminum with a corrosion-resistant powder-coated finish, it operates on either 120 or 277 VAC, and provides 90 minutes of emergency illumination. The sign features field-selectable Red or Green LED illumination, knock-out left and right directional arrows, and includes an extra faceplate and matching diffusers for single- or double-face configurations. A universal mounting canopy supports top, side, wall, or ceiling mounting, making it ideal for commercial buildings, hospitals, schools, airports, and retail or hospitality spaces.

Construction
The CALUM sign features a decorative design with a die-cast aluminum housing. Includes universal faceplates for both single and double face configurations, and displays 6-inch EXIT letter height with a 3/4-inch stroke and optional knockout chevron directional arrows.
Illumination
Illumination is achieved using long-lasting, energy-efficient ultra-bright LEDs. A color-matched diffuser eliminates hot spots and striations, ensuring optimal light distribution. The sign features a field-selectable red or green LED circuit board. The default factory setting is red.
Emergency Operation
Upon failure of the normal utility power, an internal solidstate transfer switch automatically provides uninterrupted emergency operation for at least 90 minutes. The fully automatic solid-state, two-rate charger initiates battery charging to recharge a discharged battery in 24 hours.

The CALUM series is designed with a maintenance-free 4.8V 700mAh Ni- Cad battery that provides a minimum emergency duration of 90 minutes, with a full recharge time of 24 hours.

Electrical Components
Universal voltage input of 120-277VAC with 60Hz operation. The unit features an LED display that indicates AC power status (AC/ON) and includes an external push-button test switch for quick operational checks of battery backup functionality. It utilizes surge-protected, solid-state circuitry and includes a trickle charge function once the battery is fully charged, as well as over-discharge protection to extend battery life and ensure long-term reliability.
